I give this a "B-" for artless clickbait and an "F" for history. The Medium editors, as usual, were sleeping on the job. Left out of this historical fiction is the obvious fact that Republic was ENDED by a dictator or imperator-- a Mr. Octavius Caesar. He decided that he didn't need a messy and imperfect representative government to run an empire. He wanted absolute power as Rome's CEO.
