Managers at the middle in the tech world are getting way more than $105,000. And when you move up a layer, salary + bonus + stock for VPs puts them at an economic level as far above me--non-management employee with specialized skills--as I am above a homeless street person. It's not just tech, it's an issue in other organizations as well: there is far too much inequity between execs and the rest of us. They should be earning less. It hasn't always been this way.
In any case, don't for a moment think that AI/ChatGPT will eliminate exec jobs. No one ever talks about AI replacing C-level staff, let alone project manager and other middle management. I agree about non-management white collar jobs being replaced or rather pay being lowered as employees now will be competing against their silicon peers.
